For GNSS to be used as the primary navigation means on an IFR flight in Australia, the aircraft must:

• A.Have an approved GNSS installation (per CAO 20.91 or equivalent) with a current database and RAIM available for the operation
• B.Carry a GNSS unit of any type at all, including handheld portable units, provided it has a visible antenna
• C.Use GPS only, because other GNSS constellations are not yet approved for IFR navigation in Australia
• D.Be operated by an AOC holder, since private IFR flights may not use GNSS as their primary means
